Jen Pennock, MD

Jen Pennock is a medical doctor who specializes in endocrinology and obesity medicine in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1999 and continued her training at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. At Georgetown, she successfully completed a three-year internal medicine residency and a two-year endocrinology fellowship. For a year after fellowship, she worked in a diabetes clinical research group at Washington Hospital Center in Washington DC.

Jen has been seeing patients in her clinical endocrinology practice in Pittsburgh since 2005. From 2005 to 2009, Jen worked at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. In 2009, she joined a private practice endocrinology group called Associates in Endocrinology. Then in 2012, she moved her practice to the Allegheny Health Network. Her specialty within endocrinology has been diabetes. Since obesity is so common in people with diabetes, her practice has naturally shifted through the years towards treating more people with obesity. In 2018, Jen became a certified diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine which signifies specialized knowledge in the practice of obesity medicine.

Jen’s patients appreciate her non-judgemental and compassionate attitude and her careful and thoughtful listening. She has been honored by Pittsburgh Magazine as one of The City’s Best Doctors every year since 2012.

In addition to her clinical practice of endocrinology, she serves as the Medical Director of Obesity Medicine at Allegheny Health Network, as well as the Medical Director of the Allegheny Health Network Diabetes Support Initiative for Primary Care.

Jen was previously married, and her name was Jennifer Pennock Holst from 2000 through 2018. She resumed her maiden name, Jennifer Pennock, in January 2019.

Jen enjoys exploring nature, personal development, painting, and dancing. She lives in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh with her two sons and her dog. She is surrounded by love from truly amazing friends and family.
